Ingredients (Measurement Conversion Calculator) Cardamom - 3 pieces, each 2 1/2 cm
Cloves - 6
Yellow peas - 1 1/2 cups, soaoked in water for 2 hours
Bay leaves - 4
Cardamom - 6
Water - 4 1/2 cup
Salt - 4 teaspoons
Whole pepper - 8
Vegetable Oil - 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds - 1 1/2 teaspoons
Basmati rice - 2 1/2 cups, soaked in water for 2 hours
Directions
Drain the water from yellow peas and rice. Heat oil in the cooker for around 2 minutes. Add bay leaves, whole pepper, cardamom, cloves, cardamom and cumin. Stir for few seconds. Add yellow peas and fry for 3 minutes. Add rice and fry for 3 more minutes with constant stirring. Add salt and water and keep stirring. Cover the cooker and let it cook at high heat. Simmer the heat and leave for 3 minutes. Remove the cooker from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes. Serve the rice hot with any Indian curry.
